Getting your baby to sleep well during the day can sometimes be a struggle. Here are some tips that might help.
Before your baby is born, you anticipate the joy they will bring you every day. What you don’t see coming is the desperation you can feel at night, and even during the day, when your baby just won’t sleep. So we thought we would share some tips that might help when everything else fails.
Primary needs
This might sound basic, but make sure your little one is well fed and has a clean nappy. Even the best little sleeper will struggle to fall asleep if these needs are not met.
White noise
In the womb, your baby got used to constant noise. Recreating this with a white noise machine (or just your phone) can help your baby fall asleep.
Swaddle
Babies love to feel snug and secure, just as they did in the womb, and swaddling can give your little one an extra sense of comfort that helps them relax.
If you swaddle, do it safely. Always place your swaddled baby on their back to sleep, use a thin, breathable fabric, and never swaddle above the shoulders. Keep the wrap loose enough around the hips for your baby to bend their legs up and out, and stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of starting to roll.
Baby stroller
Lots of babies fall asleep when you take them out for a walk in the stroller, so enjoy some fresh air while your baby sleeps. Did you know that research suggests gentle rocking can help us fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply?
Baby sling
Carrying your baby in a sling, close to your body, will calm your little one. They can feel your heartbeat, and your familiar smell can soothe even the most high-need babies.

Both strollers and slings are great ways to help your baby sleep, but they often require you to keep moving, or your baby wakes up. After weeks and months of bouncing, strolling and carrying your little one nonstop to help them sleep, your body may start to feel it.
All you dream of is a little time to yourself: to sit down with a coffee and a magazine, or perhaps have a nap. On that note, we have one more suggestion for the list:
The Sleepytroll
If your baby likes sleeping in the stroller and likes or needs motion to stay asleep, why not let Sleepytroll lend you a hand?
The Sleepytroll Baby Rocker recreates that rocking feeling, which helps your baby sleep long and well in their stroller. Sleepytroll will never replace you; it simply helps you rock the stroller when you really need it. While your baby sleeps, you can tidy the house, play with older siblings or just relax with a hot cup of coffee.
